There's no discrete graphics chip, either. For instance, the 8GB of soldered RAM is the only option unlike the 15-inch model, there doesn't appear to be room on the logic board to solder on an additional 8GB. However, the laptop's smaller design required a few more design compromises. The ports, including the MagSafe, are replaceable, except for HDMI and the SD card slot. It also relies on Apple's custom SSD modules (though at least one third-party is making alternatives), soldered-in RAM, Intel's mobile Ivy Bridge processors, and a unique asymmetrical fan design for quieter cooling. iFixit teardown of the 2021 MacBook Pro shows that the battery module is removable via pull tabs.
